West to East – Coast-to-Coast

England has its own ‘Route 66’, not as well known as the ‘other one’ but a purposeful route for those travelling it.

It is a route bisecting very different landscapes yet encompassed in a relatively short distance. To drive its entire length could be accomplished in half a day, but it will show one landscapes of very different hue.

Looking at this on a road map it makes sense to imagine a journey from left to right, west to east and that is how the images below will be presented, as if proceeding along in that direction.

It’s in its infancy this project so I will be expanding this collection over the next few months / years (!) and I aim to publish this on paper in some form at the end.

‘Striker’

The image above is close by The Riverside football stadium so the embellishment on this bench may relate to that…

The image below plays homage to Teesside’s steel making heritage (for that is all it is now) and is a public sculpture imagining molten metal pouring from a crucible.

South Bank

This is where it all ends – a nondescript roundabout, which hardly seems fitting.

Terminus
